The importance local news
As a journalist, you stand at the heart of society. Every day, you try to find the stories that matter: a decision made by the city council, a neighborhood initiative, a conflict that has been simmering for some time. You speak to those involved, listen to both sides of the story, and do your best to report as fairly as possible.
With every publication, you hope to make a small contribution to local democracy, that residents are better informed, that they can join the conversation, take part in decisions, and know what is happening in their street, their neighborhood, and their city.
But then that one question lingers: how important do the people of Tilburg actually find local news?
